Official End of Summer Photos

Finally - here are the photos from the kids, Memaw and Aunt Erica's trip to Kings Island and a few others from Katy's Wedding!  Thank you Jane for tagging along to KI with the group and way to go Memaw for learning to use the new camera.  You are getting there!

It was a great day to end the summer and I think the photos say it all!

Maddox on one of the few rides he rode without Mommy!

Thank goodness for smiles!

The smiles of my children and a phone call from my hubby turned this day around!

So it hasn't been an easy week, it wasn't a bad week just a long one with travel and being away from the family.  While the work meetings were good, I was in an awesome suite at the JW Marriott in Chicago, plus I got to see one of my beautiful cousins and her amazing workplace, it is still hard to be away from the kids and Matthew. Not to mention we came off a long week last week too.

Today was hard, I haven't seen Matt and Caden since Tuesday morning, I know they are having a GREAT time but I miss them.  Last night was rough adjusting back for all of us here and today, well it was busy and long but....all of that didn't matter as soon as I walked in to pick up my kids (well the 3 of them with me) and they smiled at me it all turned around.   Then we got a call from Matthew and Caden and that is just what we needed.  Maggie misses Caden and she got to talk to him.  Mallory and Cale were hearing daddy and Caden but looking at the door like they were going to walk through and be here (they don't quite understand the phone concept yet unless we are Skyping!).

It truly amazes me how much the smiles from these little people can change a day or the worries of a week.
Just when it was a long week and a day when I wonder how in the world I can do everything that needs to be done they can make it a happy and warm day where nothing else matters.

So I am smiling with tears in my eyes as I so enjoyed my evening with the 3 little ones.  Dinner, bathes, puzzles, books and now Barbie Fairies with Maggie  - who could need anything more?  Well we would like daddy and Caden with us but we know that they are having fun!

Thank you my babies - you knew what momma needed and you never let me down.  Who wouldn't smile after looking at these wonderful faces - and FYI Cale would NOT sit still for me to take his picture.  He is a toddler on the go!

The Official End of Summer!

Even though Labor Day is supposed to mark the end of summer, to me summer was never over until P&G day at Kings Island.

So now - Summer is Officially Over!  As Erica, Memaw Donna, Maddox, Maggie, Caden and Jane headed out for the day I was sad not to join but excited for my kids because of all of the memories which that day at KI brings to mind.

I am happy to report that this end of summer day is much better than last year - no bus crashes - and really has been a great weekend of laughing with my kids, seeing those who I haven't in years and just being mom.

Matthew is off to his golf trip and even though the boys have been asking for daddy quite a bit I think they are having fun!  We have LAUGHED, oh we have laughed.  My kids are growing fast and I just sat back and watched teary eyed this weekend as they sat at the dinner table and giggled.  It was awesome and something that this mom needed.

I have a lot of catching up to do on the blog from our adventures in August, I hope those are complete in the next couple of days.
Here is what to come:
  • McCool Campolooza 2011
  • Maddox's 2nd birthday
  • Gatlinburg Vacation
I owe at least these 3 topics to my kids.  The need to be able to look back at what we did during this jam packed August!

But for now I will wish Andrew and Katy the best, I have known Katy since the day she was born, I was so excited to attend their wedding today to see those wonderful people who were a HUGE part of my life so early on.  I can't believe that Katy is such a beautiful grown up gal.  It was definitely a fun and beautiful wedding with touches of family everywhere.  I enjoyed seeing each and everyone of them.  I miss you all and hope we have more chances to visit together in the future!
Congratulations and Best Wishes Katy and Andrew!

So here is to the official end of summer - it was an amazing summer with surprises, challenges and best of all memories!
Now onto fall which brings a big birthday for Caden and Maggie #4 - I will say this a million times - I just cannot believe it has been 4 years where in the world has the time gone?!

Morning addition to this post:
As I woke up Sunday morning thinking back to the day before, I realized I forgot to include what a great time I had hanging out with my mom, my sister and our kids at this beautiful wedding.  Not often do just the girls get to go anywhere and even though we were very busy chasing children it was fun to do it with them.  We don't get many days like that and I must say it was special and truly enjoyable!
