A Road Trip as a 30 Something Snowmass Colorado 2015

Our fabulous weekend is about to come to an end but I must say it was an amazing trip.  I am grateful for patient, wonderful, fun, supportive and amazing hubby and friends.

Let's be honest, I am not the world's best skier or even a very good skier but I agreed to come along on this trip because our last trip together 9 years ago convinced me that even though I am not the best at skiing I can conquer my fears and have fun.

Our adventure started on Thursday with a great lunch in downtown Denver, Nickole could not wait to take down 4 bowls of salsa with her chips.  We set off for the mountains and let me say that it was a road trip unlike any other and something I hadn't done in many, many years.  We had no timeline, no agenda and just took our time.  We believe there were like 42 stops, okay maybe only 5 but whatever the scenery is amazing and we chatted, laughed and enjoyed not having screaming kids in the car for once. It was a road trip like you would take prior to having kids and when you did not care when you got to where you were going.  You just knew where you were headed and that you would eventually get there.  If you are an adult in your 30's I highly recommend taking a non timed road trip as it was good for the soul!

Almost there!

We finally made it on Thursday about 5:00, checked in and we were welcomed to the mountains with this beautiful view.

The rest of the weekend was full of skiing, no black diamonds for me thank you very much, laughing, eating and some shopping for the gals.

We enjoyed a great meal with friends, elk chili was delicious and then ended the day with sitting outside checking out the stars, it was breath taking and the most beautiful night I had ever seen - 3 shooting stars included.

Sunday meant I was done skiing and Nickole and I went to check out Aspen during the day.  What a cute little town, not much I can afford there but it was great to walk around and see the shops and watch the slopes.

I may not be the best skier but this trip was amazing, heck I did not even fall on day 2 -  that is until I slipped in the bathroom but hey that's okay.  I may have cried twice on Friday as I was tackling the mountains unsure if I could make it down, five face plants later we ended the day and I got back up and went again on Saturday.

I am blessed, with a supportive and patient hubby, caring friends and those who want to have fun!
trips are hard to prepare for, it took a village and then some over the time we are gone, I am truly grateful for those who helped with the little 4 Cools.  We could not have done it without you.

I am hoping we do not wait another 9 years for this group to get back together, I will be too old by then to tackle my fears.  It was fun, breath taking at every turn and just plain good for the soul.
